Dancing Queen

It is just about impossible to get video of Lily these days. The minute she sees the camera she flips out and wants to watch video of herself...she still doesn't understand that she has to let me record her before she can watch it! So now I'm working on my sneaky videographer skills.

So...Lily is a major dancer. I LOVE IT! And I desperately I want better videos of this but this will have to do for now:

Accessorizing

When we moved into our new apartment Lily discovered my big jewelry box that had been in storage while we were at the Blakes.

(p.s. I love that she always holds her arms up high to keep

her jewelry and/or purse on. Cracks me up everytime!)

She has now found my heals.

Lily's first book (TOTW)

Lily LOVES reading and she LOVES doing her animal sounds. So this book, The Very Busy Spider by Eric Carle, was a perfect match for her. She was a little camera shy for this vid...normally she reads this book with gusto!

Bag Lady (TOTW)

Lily does so many cute things these days. She's such a blast to hang with! She LOVES bags...any kind. Purses, grocery bags, garbage cans! She carries them around the house and gathers miscellaneous items in them. Then she leaves the bags in secret places. At the end of the day I love finding the bags full of random surprises!

She walks (TOTW)

She started walking a few days before her birthday.  This was her first day:

She walks like a champ.  Let the terror begin.  I don't know if this is typical but she kinda runs better than she walks. I think she digs the momentum.

My little social butterfly (TOTW)

I always do this...I wait and wait thinking that I'll be able to get cuter video footage of her little tricks but she just won't let me!  Lily is already addicted to the cell phone.  When Lily misses her Daddy, we sometimes call him.  This is usually how it goes down:

Yup, another video.

So, I guess we were so caught up with the whole waving thing that we never even thought about teaching Lily to clap.  I realized that sad little fact on Saturday and decided it needed to change ASAP.  Since Lily happens to be the smartest baby I know, she picked it up in a matter of hours.

Now we just can't get her to stop!  My favorite is when she claps for me when I change her diaper.

Guess it's time to break out the gate (TOTW)

I'm gonna go ahead and call this TOTW...

...even though it's not really a 'trick'.  But we've been waiting for a while for this.  I mean she's almost 9 months!  But last night during dinner we caught a glimps of this:

Yup, that's her first tooth (just click on the pick if you need a better look)!  And as you can see, tooth #2 will be making an appearance any minute now! 

So far we haven't even known she was teething-no crying, fussing, etc.  She is just the best baby around!

Hello! aka Hail Lily (TOTW)

So Lily has actually been waving for over a month now but that little scamp just wouldn't let me get any video footage of it!  But the other day we were able to sneak this on film.  It's a very poor example of her waves.  They're usually so cute and enthusiastic.  This one looks more like she's hailing Hitler and shunning the paparazzi!  But it'll have to do.

And please excuse the fact that she is naked from the waist up...she's not allowed to wear shirt while eating.  She's messy.

On the move...(TOTW)

Our little Lil is officially on the move.  I wouldn't exactly call it crawling...it's really more of a toe push BUT she can definitely get anywhere she wants to go.

As you can see, she's definitely evolving!  She wants to be up on her knees but she just hasn't quite mastered the full knee crawling movement yet!  

So to sum up, Lily has hit the stage I've been dreading.  I'm doing my best to baby-proof our little basement here but she's a smart little cookie and she keeps finding ways around the pillows I've put up to hide things!  Oh man.

At first I was mostly concerned that she had some kind of ear ache or something. But she really only does it when she's SUPER happy. And she always smiles. So I've decided it's probably not an ear ache, just a pose to show off how adorable she is.
