My Pregnancy Pillow

Lately I've been having a hard time sleeping at night (although I don't have that hard of time sleeping during the day...hmm). Typical for pregnancy I know. I'm just really uncomfortable any way I try to swing things. And even the process of moving from side to side or back to side is uncomfortable...and for some reason it makes me burp....fantastic.

A little while ago Debbie gave me a pregnancy pillow. When she first gave it to me I wasn't really showing much and didn't have a real need for it. But now, I can definitely see the beauty of these things. When I use the pillow, I actually sleep through the night! It does, however, have a downside. It's like sleeping in my own little fort, which is fine when I sleep alone (more and more these days) but I think it makes Dave feel kinda barricaded out. So I haven't been using it very much...only when Dave's gone.

But I think we've hit the tipping point. I want to sleep. I want to be this lady.

That pillow looks amazing Mikel - you lucky duck! I totally know what you mean about flipping over. I feel like a beached whale and it just kills my pelvis. I finally figured out how to arrange my pillows (2 body pillows and 2 normal ones) a few months ago to get me to sleep through the night without waking up with some part of my body numb. Mike calls it my fort. Our poor husbands. But you gotta do what ya gotta do!

oh girlfriend, embrace that thing. dave will understand. i also have to fashion a system for myself so i don't feel the need to roll over in the night, cos rolling over at this point wakes me up everytime because of the pain and effort involved. it's just ugly.

I know what you mean about feeling a little isolated! But it's only going to get harder to sleep- I'd take advantage of that thing.

I have a theory on why it is uncomfortable to sleep while you are pregnant... to prepare your body and mind for the sleep you will be losing after the baby comes. I have to admit it did help me slowly face reality that sleep will never be the same again!! I wish I would have known about that pillow when I was pregnant!

That is hilarious, I really could have used that pillow with my last three babies!! Everything is hard when you are pregnant. I agree with Stephie that there is a reason you don't sleep well, it really is to prepare you. I still don't sleep that much, thanks to my wonderful and crazy kids!!
