The Rest of the 'Less Than Decisive Weekend'

We had what we thought was going to be our last ultrasound yesterday. The diagnosis...Lily is currently 7 pounds 10 ounces. My due date is 4 weeks away and she is supposed to gain half a pound a week from now on...grand total...roughly 9.5 pounds...eep!

So what are we going to do?? Another ultrasound of course! On May 9th we'll be heading back to the doctor so he can goop up my tummy and tell me that Lily is now over 8 pounds. At that point we will probably schedule the induction to bring her a little early so she doesn't have time to get big enough to necessitate a c-section.

I have to admit I'm pretty nervous about all this and would really appreciate prayers!

This lady in my ward had a baby that was like 11 lbs. Does that help you feel any better? Remember that birth is natural. We women did it for thousands of years without all of this fancy medical attention. Your body will know what to do!

oh i was waiting all day to see what you were going to say. Thats crazy that shes so big already, thats bigger than both my kids when they were born, lol! You didnt look big at all when we last saw you, are you starting to show you have an almost 8 lbs baby in you with 4 weeks to go :) I'm sure you look great and the baby will be fine. Everything will work out whatever happens! Of course thats easy for me to say though :) but I'm sure it will, Good Luck and thanks for keeping us updated! 25 days left, maybe sooner, thats awesome!!!!

You know, I think inductions are kind of nice. You are able to plan things a little bit more, especially if family is coming into town to help, etc.
I'm glad I was induced or I would have had a 9.5 lb baby too! Instead he was 8 lbs 13 oz.

Yes, women have been having babies for thousands of years...but women have also been dying during child birth for thousands of years! (Not to mention wicked amounts of pain!)

My Doctor never told me how big the baby was, even when I asked him. He said there is no way to tell and gave me a rough estimate. Which turned out to be more than Bodie actually weighed. Clay was almost 11 pounds. . . I think it's just a good sign Mom and Lily are healthy! Way to go!
I got the baby announcement I sent you back in the mail yesterday. I guess I don't have your right address, could you give that to me? Thanks and good luck!

Mikel, you are going to be great! I have had three c-sections now and let me tell you, I think they are awesome! You don't do anything but lie there and then you get your baby about 10 minutes after they start! Also, you don't wet your pants when you sneeze or run after c-sections like you can after vaginal deliveries! My mom and sisters all have that problem, and I don't. So, a silly, but helpful bit of info. I really hope you don't end up on that route, but if you do, there are some major benefits! Also, your baby won't have a cone head with a c-section and will be that much cuter! Everything will be wonderful and scary and weird, and the way it is supposed to be with Lily so just enjoy the last little bit of quiet you will have forever! And, yes we would be happy to keep you in our prayers! I can't wait to see your beautiful baby girl Lily! I would love to send you some bows for her, if she's anything like the girls in our family, she will be bald until she is two! Check out my bow blog (bowsbytristen.blogspot.com) and let me know a couple that you want so I can give Lily a present! I am still sad we missed your shower in Utah. Keep us posted on you and your baby!

Hi sweet Mikel, Uncle Dennis and I have been in the jungles of Guatemala this week. Now that I am back in Utah, and catching up, I want to assure you that you are already in our prayers and I know everything will be just fine. You are a strong, spiritual woman and the birth of Lily will be memorable and amazing! We can't wait! I know you can't either!!!

Wow technology these days that can tell you what your baby will weigh before she is born! That's crazy! You will do great whatever way Lily decides to come out! We will keep you in our prayers!
