As I was making my rounds at work reading all the blogs I like, I came across these verses of I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day:
And in despair I bowed my head
“There is no peace on earth,” I said,
“For hate is strong and mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good will to men.”
Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
“God is not dead, nor doth He sleep;
The wrong shall fail, the right prevail
With peace on earth, good will to men.”
As many times as I have read and sung these words during the Christmas season, none have touched me quite like this particular time. (I'm sitting here at work wipping the tears from my cheeks.) I wish I could put my emotion into words but I'd rather let Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's words speak for themselves.
